After their first meeting, Blu took to visiting the deer herd almost daily. The fawn was growing fast and now took to sparring with Blu’s leg. Every day it seemed like his antlers grew and became more painful, but Blu was proud. The deer herd seemed to take to him fine and his large overbearing presence kept away any predators. No one wanted to test if he would protect all the members or if they were only a novelty to him. A pack of wolves tried to repeatedly breach the edge of the forest, but Blu would sit up and watch all night if he had to.

When he broke the forest line, later in the afternoon, he saw bodies. Multiple does were collapsed on the ground. Blu walked slowly into the clearing. He finally saw the culprit. A wild wolf spirit was ravaging the herd. He pinned another doe as she yelled in terror. A manic grin spread across the lucid form. Then Blu saw his fawn stand up. He pawed at the ground baa’ing at the spirit. Blu broke into a sprint barreling across the field. The spirit turned to his tiny foe tossing his mother to the side to bleed out of the ground. The fawn shook looking up at the towering menace. With all his might Blu crashed into the spirit’s side. Static shocks burned his side as the leapt from the wolf and contacted his pelt. He managed to toss the wolf onto his back. Blu jumped back pushing the fawn behind him. The wolf’s form morphed back onto its feet. A wicked grin spread unnaturally across its face. Blu’s mother had told him stories about astral beings. He thought back to the deer spirit that seemed to watch over him the cold winter with Moana. Where was it now and why wasn’t it protecting this poor herd? Blu’s lips curled up. “Leave.” He threatened the spirit. “You won’t always be here.” The spirit giggled. “As soon as you left we returned. We will always be here for any weak moment.” Blu’s ears tilted back. He reared back stomping his feet into the ground. “I can’t always be here, but I won’t have to be once I get rid of you.” Blu looked to the forest edge seeing the wolves dance along the edge waiting to snatch his lost friends.

The spirit contemplated his words. “Your family is more vulnerable than mine is. I will hunt them to the ends of the earth if I have to.” Blu added trying to convince the spirit. The wolf’s brow furrowed. “You are going to pay for that threat.” The spirit paced in front of Blu eyeing the tiny form behind him. Blu leaned back drawing the spirit slightly closer. Blu coiled striking at the spirit, but instead of landing a hit he felt a gasp leave his lips. A blue glowing deer had leapt from him stabbing the wolf in the side with its antlers. It whipped the malevolent spirit around throwing it to the trees. The form hissed dissolving as it impacted with a trunk. The wolves yelped staring frightened for a moment before taking off into the trees. Blu gaped at the astral stag that watched the forest. It turned to him nodding its head before leaping and disappearing into the air. Blu felt relief washing over him and turned around to comfort the fawn. They would put the pieces back together, but for now he needed to take care of the surviving beings.

OMG this is so heartbreaking ;____; Poor fawn ;A; This drawing and story is good, you can really feel the emotion in it. The way you depicted Blu is super powerful, really a great job on that!
